Just need to find a UK dealer who can match Thomann's £900 price point. MIDAS M32 Digital Console for Live and Studio. Having the Powerplay Ultranet feature is a big plus for us as we use the P16 system for our monitoring and the digital stage boxes with a CAT5 back to FOH is potentially a big time saver for us. 32 XLR Inputs with Midas preamps 16 XLR outputs 25 Mix buses 8 DCA and 6. I really wanted the M32 as opposed to the X32 when I first started looking at budget digital consoles but an extra £2k for the Midas pre's, the better sliders, the slightly better build quality and the Midas name, was a step too far, so this is a good compromise IMO. The ability to update multiple scenes is cumbersome on the Yamaha, and I don't believe even possible the M/X32. We've spent quite a bit of money recently trying to get our audio quality tip top. The Update functions are not there on the M/X32 and with the inclusion of the Relative Mode, it's more like the DiGiCo than the Yamaha or M/X32 system. I'd raise the same argument as you that in a loud gig environment you'd be pushed to tell the difference *BUT* there is only a relatively small price premium to pay for the Midas pre's with the DL16 vs S16 and most of our shows *are* quiet theatre jobs where the difference could well be noticeable. At the time we speculated that it could be a replacement for the X32 or M32. A couple of years ago there were some images floating around of what was called the Midas Heritage D96 that had a large screen interface running alongside the hardware console. Used an M32 the other day as opposed to our usual X32 and there is definitely a improvement with the Midas pre's. So an X32 that’s completely behind a touch-screen interface Could be.
